Mr. Ronnie Bissessar S.C. is an Attorney- at- Law in private practice in Trinidad and Tobago and is the Head of Chambers of Lawgivers. On 08th May 2023 he was elevated
to the rank o f Senior Counsel.

Mr. Bissessar S.C. is the President of the Trinidad and Tobago Heart Foundation, a former Director of the InterAmerican Heart Foundation (based in Texas, USA), a Director of the Healthy Caribbean Coalition (based in Barbados) and the Deputy Chair of the Trinidad and Tobago Non-Communicable Diseases Alliance. He is a former Vice President of the Assembly of Southern Lawyers and Past President of the Rotary Club of San Fernando South and has received two (2) Paul Harris Fellows which is Rotary’s highest honour.

Mr. Bissessar S.C. is also the former Chair of the Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute and is the present Chairman of a Working Group which in November 2024, revised the 2013 Corporate Governance Code for Companies with public accountabilities; he is the Deputy Chair of the UWI Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) and he has served in numerous leadership capacities in respect of non-governmental organisations, charities and philanthropic groups. Mr. Bissessar S.C. is a Senior Ordinary Member of the Council of the Law Association and co-founder of the Trinidad and Tobago Legal Network which promotes and provides continuing legal education to members of the legal profession.

Mr. Bissessar S.C. was a Lecturer in Corporate Practice and Procedure at the Hugh Wooding Law School and External Examiner of the University of the West Indies. Mr. Bissessar S.C. has presented Papers on corporate governance and complex commercial matters locally and regionally and has convened numerous Seminars and Workshops for newly-appointed State Directors. Mr. Bissessar S.C. is a Barrister at Law of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom and he practices extensively in public and commercial law, advising widely on corporate and commercial exposure and risk mitigation; he also advises on international laws, conventions and maritime practices. He has appeared as Advocate in all Courts including tthe Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in the UK.

Mr. Bissessar SC is also a Mediator certified by the Mediation Board of Trinidad and Tobago and the University of Windsor Faculty of Law and has served as a Mediator and Arbitrator in Commercial Claims.

Mr. Bissessar S.C.is married to Dr. Sabita Harrikissoon and they have two children, Sveva (18) and Seth (11).
