Laughter Changes Lives: The UWIDEF Debuts The Honor Roll of Comedy
An evening of laughter, generosity and community spirit took centre stage on Thursday, July 30, 2026, as The University of the West Indies Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) launched its newest fundraising initiative, The Honor Roll of Comedy, at Tommy’s Brewing Company, Brentwood, Chaguanas. The inaugural event marked an exciting addition to the UWIDEF’s fundraising calendar, with proceeds benefiting bursaries and scholarships for students at The UWI, St. Augustine Campus who are in need of financial assistance.
In celebration of its 8th Anniversary, Tommy’s Brewing Company partnered with the UWIDEF as the Title Partner for the inaugural Honor Roll of Comedy, demonstrating its commitment to giving back to the community and investing in brighter futures through education. Patrons enjoyed a delicious dinner paired with Tommy’s finest craft beers before being treated to outstanding performances by some of Trinidad and Tobago’s top comedians: Rodell “Ro’dey” Cumberbatch, Keevan “Keevo” Lewis, Jerome Richardson, Kevin Soyer, and Louris Martin Lee-Sing “Lyrix”, whose performances kept the audience laughing throughout the night.
The UWIDEF extends its heartfelt appreciation to Tommy’s Brewing Company, the featured comedians, its volunteers, donors, supporters and dedicated organizing team, whose collective efforts made the inaugural staging a memorable success.
UWIDEF’s fundraising calendar continues with the Vocal Recital Series, featuring acclaimed soprano Ms. Natalia Dopwell on September 12, 2026, followed by the series finale featuring Ms. LeAndra Head on November 21, 2026, and the UWIDEF Golf Challenge on September 25, 2026. Proceeds from these events will support student bursaries and scholarships at The UWI, St. Augustine Campus.
