The UWIDEF 2023-2024 Awards Ceremony Recap

       2023-2024 Scholarship and Bursary Awardees

The UWI Development and Endowment Fund distributed two hundred (200) scholarships and bursaries at its 2023 Awards Ceremony. Chairman of The UWI Development and Endowment Fund, Dr Sterling Frost O.R.T.T. in his address to the hundreds of awardees gathered with well-wishers underscored the importance of “paying it forward”. In his address, Dr. Frost stated:

“Catherine Hyde’s book introduced the concept of “paying it forward.” In the novel, Reuben St. Clair, a Social Studies teacher, inspired his students to come up with ideas to change the world. One student, Trevor Mckinney, spawned an idea called “Pay it Forward” which encouraged networking of good deeds for charity. It is a simple yet powerful concept that encourages individuals to perform random acts of kindness for others, with the hope that they will in turn pay it forward to someone else. By doing so, we can create a ripple effect of kindness and generosity that can transform the world we live in.”
